Dedication to quality in design, craftsmanship and function. Integrity of materials and workmanship. Sustainability. Building relationships. Building houses. Building furniture. These are things that we at pegged are 'about'. Attention to detail, whether building a skateboard or framing a wall, is fundamental to all that we do. We believe in exceeding the expectation every time. We believe in our people, and in paying a good wage for the skills that they bring. We trust them in our space, which is why we feel confident bringing them into yours. We source our supplies locally, and invest the extra time necessary to reclaim and salvage materials whenever possible. Planting our roots in this community, we believe in growing with Chattanooga, and in giving back just as trees give us material to support our livelihood and creativity.
Family-owned and operated since 2008, formerly known as Joseph Brogdon Construction, pegged has recently undergone a rebranding initiative in an effort to better define our mission and objectives. Whether bringing us into the sacred space of your home or riding one of our longboards through downtown, we want customers to feel that with pegged, the end result is a strong and stable product that will last for generations.
Joe himself, co-owner with wife Sarah, is a long-time lover of both building and boards. Joe has extensive carpentry and woodworking experience, from large-scale renovations and new construction to small furniture projects. He received a Bachelor’s degree from the University of Tennessee in History before pursuing his true passion through a year-long apprenticeship spent building and remodeling fine homes in Charleston, SC. He then learned to craft timber frames in the Blue Ridge Mountains of Virginia. These experiences fostered an appreciation for traditional methods and tools, advanced joinery, and green building. While he is well versed in all aspects of contemporary design, he most enjoys the craftsmanship of past periods in building. Joe places emphasis on attention to detail and integrity of the finished product.
Sarah holds both undergraduate and graduate degrees in Environmental Policy, and brings to pegged her thorough knowledge of sustainability in practice. She has experience with cobb building in the forests of the Pacific Northwest, and an appreciation for architecture cultivated through extensive travel. She has worked in both the non-profit and public sectors, in addition to corporate experience in the recycling industry. Her continued dedication to sustainability is evident in her contributions at pegged, as is her background in business and logistics.
We at pegged look forward to building your dream, be it a reclaimed farm table, addition to your home, or custom skateboard.
